About Edinburgh

Edinburgh is Scotland’s compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.

Tour Details

You will be met at the meeting point by your guide, Adam Lyal (deceased) – a highwayman who was executed in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket on 27th March 1811. Mr Lyal leads you through the haunted alleyways and dark courtyards of the Old Town, telling tales of witchcraft, plague, torture, hangings, body-snatching, etc…. Some of Mr Lyal’s ghostly chums lurk around the Royal Mile, waiting to leap out and frighten you. Although the subject matter is dark, Mr Lyal’s approach is fairly light-hearted, and there will be a few laughs, as well as a few scares, while you hear about Edinburgh’s sinister past.
